Steel Structure: An Application Ecosystem Penetrating Multiple Fields Leveraging its core advantages of "high strength, light weight, easy recyclability, and rapid construction", the steel structure has built an application ecosystem covering diverse scenarios, continuously expanding from traditional industrial fields to the high-end construction market. Industrial construction remains the fundamental demand driver, accounting for 35% to 40% of the total demand. Amid the wave of manufacturing upgrading, heavy-duty workshops in industries such as petrochemicals and automobile manufacturing, as well as clean workshops in the electronic information industry, all show strong demand for steel structures. It is expected that the market scale of steel structures for industrial workshops will exceed 280 billion yuan by 2025. The logistics and warehousing sector also holds enormous potential. With the expansion of the e-commerce industry, prefabricated steel structure warehouses have become the first choice for warehouse facility upgrading due to their short construction cycle and high space utilization. Public buildings and commercial complexes have become showcases for steel structure technology. In the field of super high-rise buildings, the number of steel structure buildings over 100 meters will exceed 8,000 by 2025, representing a 40% increase compared to 2022. Landmark projects such as Beijing Daxing International Airport and Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center have achieved a perfect integration of spatial aesthetics and engineering mechanics through long-span steel structures, with a single project consuming 30,000 to 50,000 tons of steel. Notably, the adoption of steel structures in educational and medical buildings is accelerating, and it is predicted that their penetration rate will increase by 12 percentage points by 2030 compared to 2025. Although the current proportion of steel structures in the residential sector is only 8% to 12%, it represents the largest growth driver in the future. The implementation of the whole-life cycle evaluation mechanism for steel structure residential buildings in many regions starting from 2025, coupled with policy support for affordable housing construction, is promoting large-scale breakthroughs in this field. It is expected that the average annual growth rate of completed floor area of steel structure residential buildings will remain above 12% by 2030. In addition, new energy infrastructure has spurred demand for specialized steel structures, with products such as offshore wind power support structures and photovoltaic brackets maintaining an annual market growth rate of over 12%, becoming a new growth driver for the industry.
